The assessment of the quality of medical education should be strengthened. China will establish and improve a quality evaluation and accreditation system for medical education, and set up an accreditation system for medical education programs with Chinese characteristics and internationally equivalent effect by 2020. The results of the accreditations will be gradually published and utilized as a key indicator of the quality of medical education in medical schools and healthcare institutions. An early warning and withdrawal mechanism should be set up to dynamically monitor the quality of medical schools and the healthcare institutions undertaking clinical training. Those that fail to meet the standards of quality evaluation and accreditation should improve its quality within a limited time, and the eligibility of enrolling new students will be terminated after failing again following the improvement process.
