Strengthening the development of an evaluation system for medical education.
A system for the accreditation of medical education should be set up. The accreditation of medical education should be referenced according to the China Standards for Basic Medical Education, based on medical schools’ self-evaluation, and organized and implemented jointly by the educational sectors and health sectors. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, we should summarize our own experience, refer to the international standards for medical education to further improve Chinese accreditation standards and procedures, expand pilot assessments and improve relevant policies. By 2020, the first round of accreditation for medical schools should be completed and an accreditation system for medical programs with both Chinese characteristics and internationally equivalent effect should be set up.
