The 2021 Training for schools of the Accreditation of Medical Education Held Successfully

From April 24th to 25th, 2021, the 2021 Training for schools of the Accreditation of Medical Education was successfully held in Beijing. Nearly 500 people from more than 100 colleges and units across the country participated in the training. Since 2021, the Working Committee for the accreditation of Medical Education will start the second round of Accreditation. Through the theme report, connotation interpretation, group discussion and other forms, the training deeply introduced Accreditation Standards for Basic Medical Education in China (2016) (Hereinafter referred to the Standards ) and a new round of Accreditation implementation plan.



In the theme report on April 24th, the Chairman and Secretary-General of WCAME, senior medical education experts, representatives of the second round of Accreditation colleges made keynote speeches from the connotation and concept of the Standards, a new round of Accreditation implementation plan, experience sharing and other aspects. Wang Weimin, Director of WCAME and executive deputy director of the National Center for Health Professions Education Development, gave a detailed interpretation of the basic requirements and ten areas in the Standards.

Lv Zhaofeng, counselor of WCAME and Member of the Expert Committee of Medical Education of Ministry of Education, highly refined the core of the Accreditation and the key points of medical education reform, pointed out the focus of the current medical education reform, hoped colleges to standardize and reform medical education on the basis of the understanding of Accreditation connotation and reform direction. Promoting medical education reform through Accreditation, improving medical education quality through reform, contribute to the development of medical education and teaching in China.


Xie Ana, Secretary-General of WCAME, made a simple review of the implementation of the first round of  Accreditation of medical education, and gave a detailed explanation on the new round of accreditation plan to be released.


The following theme report mainly focused on the reform concept and practice of medical education. Li Yan, member of WCAME and Secretary of the party committee of School of Pharmacy, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, explained the formulation of medical talent training program from theory to practice. Li Haichao, Secretary-General of the Teaching Steering Committee for Clinical Medicine of the Ministry of Educations and deputy dean of Peking University First Hospital, in depth introduced the integrated design ideas and implementation points of medical curriculum. Zou Yang, member of WCAME and former deputy dean of the Sixth School of Clinical Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, introduced the organization and implementation points of the medical school student examination in combination with examples. Pang Haishao, director of the Research Center for Teaching Promotion and Teacher Development of Beijing Institute of Technology, expounded the results, difficulties and resolvents out of teacher development in terms of the world phenomenon and the Chinese path of teacher development. Zhao Guang, Vice president of Harbin Medical University, and Chen Junxiang, Vice president of XiangYa School of Medicine, CSU, respectively reviewed and shared the valuable experience of the school in the second round of Accreditation, and the role of the Accreditation in testing schools’ the teaching quality, pushing on the reform of medical education, and promoting continuous improvement and other aspects.

 

 

On the morning of April 25th, a group discussion of "Interpretation of the Core Points of the Self-evaluation Report" was held. The meeting was divided into five groups according to the ten areas of the Standards, respectively for the theme report of the core points interpretation and sharing and exchange between colleges. Around the specific area of the Standards, the guest speakers, who were Professor Wang Weimin of Peking university, professor Cao Depin of Harbin medical university, professor Yang Mianhua of Shantou University, professor Zhang Yanping of Fudan University, professor FuLi of Capital Medical University, professor Wangyun of Peking university, professor QingPing of Sichuan university, professor Yang Libin of Harbin medical university, professor Wang Qing of Fudan University, professor Qu Bo of China Medical University , professor Jiang Guanchao of Peking University People's Hospital, respectively introduced the core points and observation points of the Standerds , and share the relevant advanced experience to the participants. At the same time, more than 20 colleges also shared their own experience and confusion in the process of preparing for the accreditation and writing the self-evaluation report. The guests and college representatives had heated and extensive discussions and exchanges.

On the afternoon of April 25th, Zhao Peng from Wuxi School of Medicine, Jiangnan University, Zhang Min from Hebei Medical University, Li Xihai from Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Liu Zhiyong from Medical Department of North China University of Science and Technology, and Zhu Hanyi from Southern Medical University, shared the main discussion points and main experiences of the group.Then, through the on-site questions and bullet screen text, the participants and the guests more in-depth communicated and answered questions.

The training aims to disseminate accreditation concepts and provide guidance to the colleges. The training was enthusiastically attended, reflecting medical colleges pay their attention to the medical education accreditation. The training content is rich and in-depth, which is widely praised by the participants. In the future, the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education and National Center for Health Professions Education Development will strive to provide more platforms for medical educators to communicate and learn from each other, and promote college administrators and medical teachers to further exchange experience, collide ideas, build consensus, and jointly promote the development and quality improvement of medical education.
