The First session of 2021 Annual Meeting of Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education was Held

On March 20, 2021, the first annual meeting of working committee for the accreditation of medical education in 2021 was held online. More than 40 people attended the meeting, including Fan Wei-- director of the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, representatives of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Educations, all the members of WCAME, and the 19 team chairs / deputy team chairs. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Xie Ana, the secretary-general of the WCAME.


          Delegates gathered online at 8 a.m. on time, and the online meeting started smoothly. Director Wang Weimin expressed his gratitude to all the experts for actively preparing and participating in the online meeting and comprehensively supporting the work of the Secretariat.


          The meeting reviewed Rules of the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education and matters related to the operation of WCAME. Xie Ana reported on the work achievement in 2020 and the work plan for 2021. Subsequently, the meeting reviewed the  accreditation reports and conclusion recommendations of 19 schools, including Nankai University and so on. In conjunction with the presentations and accreditation reports of the 19 team chairs, the participating members expressed their views based on Standards for Basic Medical Education in China and conducted an online vote on the conclusion recommendations. In the afternoon, the meeting successively reviewed the institutions which accreditation period is extended in 2020, the first status report of WFME Recognition of Accreditation Programme and the implementation plan of Accreditation of Medical Education. The experts at the meeting had in-depth discussions on the relevant issues and put forward constructive guidance.


          At the end of the meeting, Fan Wei, director of the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, made a summary. She pointed out that in the process of formulating the implementation plan of Accreditation of Medical Education and the specific process, WCAME should comprehensively consider Chinese characteristics and international substantial equivalence, and the formulation of the plan should be combined with the future Accreditation effectiveness.


           The whole meeting was held in an orderly manner and successfully completed. WCAME will continue to promote the accreditation work to a new level, improve the training quality of health workforce and promote the implementation of the Healthy China strategy.
