WCAME attended the 2019 World Conference of WFME

On April 7th to 10th , 2019, the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) held the 2019 World Conference in Seoul, South Korea, with theme “Quality Assurance for Medical Education in the 21st Century”. More than 800 representatives from 57 countries attended this conference.
Founded in 1972, WFME is a non-profit and non-governmental organization formed by the World Medical Association(WMA) and World Health Organization(WHO). It is registered in UK and its mission is to improve the global quality of medical education.
WFME hopes to share its progress and experience in Recognition Programme for medical education accreditation agency through this World Conference, to establish a communication platform for medical education accreditation agencies in various countries and to promote the coordinated development of global medical education.
Wang weimin, Director of the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education, was invited to this conference and gave a keynote speech “Accreditation of Medical Education in China (from 2002 to 2018)” in the first day.
The speech was introduced the profiles of the medical education in China and the accreditation system of Chinese medical education and its implementation, which including the formulation and revision of Chinese medical education standards, the standardization process of Chinese medical education accreditation, the construction of agency teams, the accredited colleges and universities and international peers' evaluation feedback on the accreditation work. After the speech, chairman Wang broadcasted a video about the 10th anniversary of the accreditation of Chinese medicine education.
During the conference, representatives of the Working Committee, representatives of medical education accreditation agencies from the United States, Canada, Japan and other countries and the relevant representatives of other international organizations conducted a full communication and experience sharing.
Through this conference, we have obtained the direction of further development of Chinese medical education accreditation, as well as the experience that WFME accredit the medical education accreditation agencies. This also help us to achieve the goal that establish a medical education accreditation system with Chinese characteristics and international substantive equivalent in 2020.
This event that the Working Committee was invited to attend the conference illustrated the recognition of Chinese medical education accreditation work from international peers.
It is also make a voice about Chinese medical education and Chinese medical education accreditation on the international stage and establish a closer relationship with other accreditation agencies and relevant international organizations.
