More than 150 representatives from over 50 medical schools gathered in Hongxiang Hotel, Beijing, on September 26-28, 2012, to share ideas and experiences of the accreditation of basic medical education at the medical schools workshop.
The workshop was jointly sponsored by the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education of Ministry of Education and the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and organized by Peking University Health Science Center. Deputy Director of Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education,China Pengjian Shi delivered a keynote address on the reform and development of medical education in China, which introduced the strategic significance of the accreditation of medical education. Professor Boji Cheng, Qing Wang, MianhuaYang, and Qingnan He also gave keynote speech on the accreditation of medical education from different perspectives, which were widely acknowledged. In the afternoon, all the participants were assigned into different panel discussions, giving them opportunities to communicate with each other in depth and details.
The medical schools workshop on the accreditation of medical education ended with a speech of Deputy Secretary-General Weimin Wang, focusing on working toward real and lasting improvements in the quality assurance of basic medical education through more attention paid to the accreditation of basic medical education.
