On March 12, 2016, the annual working conference of the accreditation of medical education of the Ministry of Education was held in Beijing Jinma Building. The 2015 team chairs and deputy chairs of the assessment teams and members of the secretariat working group attended this meeting.
The main topic of the conference was the briefing of the situation of the accredited schools in 2015 and discussion of accreditation conclusions. A group of experts briefly introduced the accreditation for medical education programmes of 17 colleges and universities in 2015. The speakers included: Prof. Liyang Wen, chief of assessment team of Mudanjiang Medical University and Northwest Minzu University, Professor Yulin Li, chief of assessment team of Youjiang Medical College and Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Professor Weimin Wang, chief of assessment team of Putian University and the deputy chief of assessment team of Zhongshan University, Professor Mianhua Yang, chief of assessment team of Jiujiang University , Professor Gang Huang, chief of assessment team of Wuhan University, professor Yingqing Lu, chief of assessment team of Jining Medical College and Ningbo University, Professor Junhui Bian, deputy chief of assessment team of Southern Medical University, Professor Mengfeng Li, chief of assessment team of Dalian University, Professor Baozhi Sun, chief of assessment team of of Xuzhou Medical College and Jianghan University, Professor Yan Yanhong, chief of assessment team of Chengdu Medical College, Professor Ma Jianhui, chief of assessment team of Shaoxing University, and Professor Yongsong Guo, deputy chief of assessment team of Changsha Medical College.
At the same time, two staff unpacked and put together the ballot sheets that assessment team members collected during the site visit, and announced the voting results. Participating experts discussed the accreditation result of each institution separately. As for the disputed institutions, it is recommended to report the voting situation and the problems found in the accreditation process to the working committee for consideration.
The second topic of the conference was the accreditation progress report and the comprehensive report. The Secretariat informed the participating experts of the list of schools submitting progress reports in 2016, and detailed the review of the comprehensive reports of four universities including Harbin Medical University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shantou University and Jilin University. After discussions by the participating experts, the accreditation term of the four institutions was re-identified. It was certain that the committee would have review visits to the institutions that submitted the progress report and comprehensive report in due time.
The conference also discussed the situation of universities and colleges of which the preliminary visits were implemented in 2016 and the accreditation plans in 2017.
