The 2016 Annual Conference of Medical Accreditation Held

On March 11, 2017, the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education held an annual conference in Beijing. Leaders from Ministry of Education, the chiefs and deputy chiefs of the assessment teams for the 13 accredited schools in 2016 attended the conference.


At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Xia Shaohua, from the Agriculture, Forestry and Medical Education division of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all experts for their support for the accreditation of medical education. Then, Prof. Wang Weimin, deputy secretary-general of the committee, introduced the accreditation achievements in the year of 2016 and the accreditation work plan for the year of 2017.


Subsequently, the representatives of each assessment team summarized the accreditation situation of the 13 accredited colleges and universities in the year of 2016 including Nantong University, Suzhou University, Jinggangshan University, Southeast University, Xiangnan College, Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Guangzhou Medical University, Guizhou Medical University, Ningxia Medical University, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University and Yichun College. At the same time, staff from the secretariat unpacked the voting envelop, collected the voting information of the assessment team members which were sealed during the site visits and announced the results. The experts discussed the accreditation results and finally reached a conclusion.


After that, the participants discussed the review opinions of experts to the comprehensive reports submitted by two schools and made suggestions on the extended accreditation period. The situation of four review-visited schools and two preliminary-visited schools in 2017 were also announced during the meeting. Later on, experts discussed the 2016 edition of Standards for Basic Medical Education in China and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Basic Medical Education, and revised Regulations for Schools on Applying for Overseas Experts to Participate in Medical Accreditation.


In addition, specific requirements on voting of accreditation results during site visits were discussed and finalized. The experts also conducted extensive and in-depth exchange and discussions on other accreditation-related issues.
