The Sixth Training for Assessors of Medical Accreditation Held in Beijing

The sixth training for assessors of medical accreditation was held on August 25, 2017 in Beijing. Besides assessors, Mr. Gao Bin, deputy director of the Agriculture, Forestry and Medical Education division of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education attended the training.


At the beginning of the training, Professor Ke Yang, deputy director of the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education, affirmed the achievements and significance of the current medical accreditation in China. She expressed her thanks to all the experts, secretaries and institutions involved in the accreditation for their hard work and support. She also mentioned that the major changes in the field of medical education in China in recent years have guided the direction of future medical education reform, emphasizing the continuous improvement of Chinese medical education and the importance of continuous integration with international medical education.


Professor Shi Xiaoguang from the Graduate School of Education, Peking University profoundly expounded on the policy framework and its implications of the new round of medical education reform in China, which has brought many inspirations for the future reform of medical education.


Professor Wang Weimin, deputy secretary-general of the committee, reviewed and expounded the history and current status of China's accreditation of medical education, interpreted the new changes in the 2016 edition of Standards for Basic Medical Education in China, and gave a detailed introduction of the workflow and guidelines of the accreditation work.


Mr. Gao Bin conveyed the key points of the National Medical Education Reform and Development Conference held in Beijing last month, summed up the achievements of China's medical education reform and development, and mentioned the new situation and new tasks that the medical education reform are facing and the key targets and fields that the medical reform should focus on in the future.


Professor Wen Liyang from Huazhong University of Science and Technology vividly expounded the duties and requirements of the assessment team, the necessary preparations before entering the school, and the methods and key points of implementing the site visit at school.


Professor Zou Yang from Shanghai Jiaotong University shared his accreditation experience, emphasizing to verify related situation during the accreditation and the key points to be followed in the interview with stakeholders.


Finally, Professor Wang Weimin summarized the main contents of this training and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the hard work and support of the accreditation experts.
